The Year 13 A-level pupils are Laurence Cook, who has an offer from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, to read engineering, Fraser Elliott and Edward Moss, who both have the chance to read maths at Cambridge, at Downing and Robinson colleges respectively, while Joe Sumner plans to follow a course in philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College, Oxford.

Mark Barrow, the London Road secondary school’s head of sixth form, said: “We’re delighted that our students have achieved these successes, which reflect the breadth and depth of their knowledge.

“They represent a fitting reward for all the dedication and hard work of the students and their teachers and reflect the standards of excellence that we are always striving for.”
