BISHOP'S Stortford's Nuffield Health fitness club is to reopen tomorrow (Thursday, February 9), just four days after it suffered a massive flood.
The scene of the evacuation on Sunday (Feb 5)
The incident, which sparked a major evacuation of neighbouring businesses amid fears of a chemical leak, left the Anchor Street premises with significant water damage.
But while it was initially feared that the gym would be shut for up to three weeks, a spokeswoman confirmed today that it would be back up and running as usual in a day's time.
After checking the scene on Sunday, firefighters found no evidence of a chemical leak. Smoke and steam seen pouring from the top of the building are believed to have been caused by electrical equipment short-circuiting.
