Funeral service for tragic Stortford schoolgirl

THE funeral of tragic Bishop’s Stortford teenager Katie Littlewood, who was hit by a train at Johnson’s Footpath Crossing last month, will take place tomorrow (Wednesday, February 8).

Katie LittlewoodThe service starts at Epping Forest Burial Ground at 1.30pm. Donations will go to Stortford’s Animal Rescue Charity, where the 15-year-old, right, volunteered at weekends.

Relatives of the Year 10 Herts & Essex High School student have thanked the community for their support in the aftermath of her death on January 28.

Her aunt Helen Neary, with whom she and her sisters had lived since their mother Ruth White died in 2009, said: “The family want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and support at this difficult time.”

Mrs Neary added staff at Herts & Essex had been “brilliant” in helping classmates come to terms with their loss.

On Friday, the Warwick Road secondary will be holding two assemblies to commemorate the youngster’s life. Family members including her father Simon, who now lives in Wales, will be attending.
