ESTATE agent Savills has made its name helping people move into Bishop’s Stortford, but this week the company wants to make as many leave the town as possible for a great cause!

In partnership with the Observer, the North Street business wants to encourage dozens of fellow firms and groups to field teams in a fun event dubbed The Great Escape in aid of Help for Heroes.

Traders are challenged to start their adventure at the town’s rugby club in Silver Leys at 9am on Friday, October 1 and, in a jail-break style, get as far away as possible without spending a penny.

It is hoped the cash-free prison escape will raise thousands of pounds for the charity which supports servicemen and women returning from war zones with life-changing injuries.

Each team of two has until 4pm to take a picture of themselves – with a special Observer front page – at a suitable landmark to provide photographic proof of their mileage.

There are already some great prizes on offer; Host restaurant and bar in Market Square has donated a meal for two and wine merchant Hedley Wright has supplied a magnum of Champagne for the champs.

Savills’ Felicity Shaw said: “One in 12 soldiers who come back from war zones come back with life-changing injuries. Help for Heroes raise money to provide these soldiers with a better quality of life.”

Entry costs £25 person and every competitor will receive a special T-shirt.  Only over-18s may take part. Entry forms are available from Savills office in North Street.
