MORE than 120 challengers stepped up to the mark at this year’s Little Hadham Fun Run, helping to raise cash for two local causes.
Despite damp weather, keen joggers donned sports kit and even fancy dress to take part in the annual community event.
Everyone had the chance to run either five or 10 kilometres (3.1 or 6.2 miles) on a route that went around Little Hadham and its surrounding hamlets.
Proceeds will be split between Cazfest – which raises awareness of heart conditions in memory of Little Hadham teen Caroline Johnstone – and the village’s parish plan. The final total has not yet been counted.
Caroline’s parents Johnny and Lesley were there to sell tickets for the Stortford bash on July 2, while Lesley also started the races.
The 10K run was won by Tom Macardy in a time of 44 minutes whilst the 5K was completed in 17 minutes, with John Ockenden first to cross the line. George Cook came first in the under-13 category, followed by Piers Martin and Colin Stockman.
Takings were boosted by a small fete in the afternoon, which included a barbecue, beer tent and children’s stalls. Musicians Rachel Gill and The DC Effect, who are playing at Cazfest, gave previews of their sets alongside folk group 16 String Jack.
