Video: Stortford cabbie strips off for charity

A BLACK cab driver from Bishop’s Stortford has gone the extra mile for charity by posing in a nude calendar.

Tony Habberley, who has been a London cabbie for more than 12 years, was one of 12 chosen from hundreds of drivers to appear in the 2012 calendar after answering a call from online booking service GetTaxi.

As well as stripping off for the calendar shoot, Tony was also required to pose in the buff for a publicity group shot taken in front of dozens of amused tourists and commuters in the chilly winter air opposite London’s Tower Bridge.

“Some of us were more eager to get our clothes off than others,” he said. “I wasn’t so sure at first, but we all had a good laugh about it – and we knew it was for a good cause.”

It is hoped the calendar will raise more than £10,000 for the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, which promotes personal safety.

Tony said: “Safety is a big concern for black cab drivers, so to support a charity that helps make people feel more secure is a big deal for all of us. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust does a lot to promote safety for women in London and we’re definitely behind that work.”

Neal Fullman, chief executive of GetTaxi, said: “Our safer taxi initiatives are aimed at women and our drivers wanted to do their bit for charity, so what better way to capture female attention than a calendar featuring our good looking guys who are clearly willing to go to any lengths for a great cause.

"I’m really proud that GetTaxi has such a supportive bunch of London’s finest licensed taxi drivers.”

Priced at £3, the calendar is available from www.gettaxi.co.uk.
