A FAR-reaching report outlining Bishop's Stortford residents' hopes and fears for the future was handed to the town council at a special ceremony last night (Tuesday, March 10).

The document, called Bishop's Stortford Town Plan, was put together by a dedicated team of volunteer researchers who handed out questionnaires and compiled the results. It was handed to mayor Colin Woodward at Stortford's Rhodes Arts Complex.

The finished document is a snapshot of public opinion in the town - what residents like, what they dislike and the ways they would like to see Bishop's Stortford grow and improve over the coming decade.

It will be submitted to East Herts District Council, which they will take into account when drawing up an official document called the Local Development Framework. This in turn will form the basis for making major planning decisions throughout the district.
