Trio of businesses set for success in Local Business Accelerators competition

Local Business AcceleratorsThe Observer has announced the three winning firms in its Local Business Accelerators competition, each of which will benefit from a three-month advertising campaign worth £8,000 as well as the mentoring expertise of three prominent local business people.

The contest for fledgling businesses was one of almost 500 launched by regional daily and weekly papers across the country in October with the aim of helping to kick-start the private sector-led economic recovery.

Our three winners are legal services price comparison website CompareLegalCosts, specialist hair and beauty salon Lily Pins and retailer William Charles Interiors, all of which are based in Bishop’s Stortford.

They will be mentored by Coopers of Stortford chairman Neil Cooper, sales and marketing expert Steve Clarke, from former TV Dragons’ Den star James Caan’s Entrepreneurs Business Academy, and Paul Martin, a partner at award-winning Bishop’s Stortford-based accountants Price Bailey.

And one of them will be chosen to go through to the national final, where they could win the mentoring services of Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Deborah Meaden.
