easyJet
easyJet proudly sponsors the Young Achiever Award. Our mission has always been to make travel easy and affordable for all and to engage in the communities we operate in.
We truly recognise the importance of supporting award ceremonies like the Mercury and Observer Community Awards. The awards give thanks to and acknowledges unsung heroes who play an integral role at the heart of the community each and every day and we’re proud to play a small part in that.
Stansted Airport is an important part of the easyJet network. Since our arrival at Stansted in 2003 we have grown to fly 29 routes to destinations across Europe including Munich, Tallinn, Alicante, Madeira and Malaga. On average we operate 512 flights each week and to date we have flown more than 34 million passengers.
We’d like to express our thanks to all our passengers for supporting us over the years and in doing so we’ll continue to champion key community initiatives, such as this, going forward.
London Stansted Airport
‘London Stansted Airport is delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Good Neighbour’ category at the 2011 Mercury and Observer Community Awards.
For over 20 years London Stansted Airport has been a proud member of the local community. We are now the third busiest airport in the UK with a route network stretching to around 150 destinations. In addition to providing passengers with more direct scheduled European flights than any other airport in the world, we employ over 10,500 employees and are the biggest single site employer in the region, generating over £400 million a year in wages and salaries alone. Our vision is to become Europe’s point-to-point airport of choice by growing the airport on the existing single runway while at the same time making sure the impact on our local community and environment is kept to a minimum.
We would like to express our thanks to the Mercury and Observer for organising an event which recognises the remarkable achievements of our community, particularly those who put the needs of others before themselves.’
Hertfordshire County CouncilHertfordshire County Council is proud to be sponsoring the Mercury and Observer Community Awards.
Volunteers make our communities strong. Whatever they do – whether it’s a cup of tea and a chat in the local hospital, clearing a footpath, or simply shopping for an elderly neighbour – these people are the glue which binds our communities together.
Hertfordshire County Council has a proud tradition of supporting and enabling volunteering. The county’s volunteers provide carers with much needed breaks, help our Fire and Rescue Service deliver important safety messages to communities, and mentor young people taking part in our libraries’ summer reading challenge. Currently around a quarter of the county’s residents volunteer in one way or other, which is a terrific achievement – but we want even more to join in. Our latest project is looking at how new technologies can help people to volunteer at a time and place convenient to them.
Our sponsorship of this award is one small way in which we can say thank you to the people who do so much to make Hertfordshire a great place to live and work. If you would like further information on how to get involved, visit the volunteering section under 'Your Community' on Hertfordshire County Council's website.
