Doctor Who fans mourn Stortford-born actor

DOCTOR Who fans are in mourning this week after the death of a Bishop's Stortford-born actor.

Bernard Horsfall died on Tuesday (January 29). He was 82.

He appeared in 14 episodes of the iconic BBC TV series, appearing with three incarnations of the Time Lord.

Born on November 20, 1930 in Stortford, the veteran performer had a distinguished career on both the small and silver screens, including movie roles in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Gandhi and Braveheart.

His TV appearances included Casualty, Agatha Christie: Poirot, The Bill, The Jewel in the Crown, Juliet Bravo, Minder, When the Boat Comes In, Within These Walls, Jackanory, Elizabeth R, Doomwatch, Out of the Unknown, Softly Softly, Dr Finlay's Casebook, Enemy at the Door and Z Cars.
