THE violence and excitement of medieval fighting were brought vividly back to life at Mountfitchet Castle in Stansted.
Despite the weekend’s sweltering heatwave, which saw temperatures soar to almost 30C (86F) in the South East, members of the Medieval Combat Society strapped on up to 6st (38kg) of armour and slugged it out with swords and axes on Saturday and Sunday (June 25 and 26).
