Add some award season glamour to your look

Fashion disasters, gushing celebrities and a lovely dose of King Colin can only mean one thing – awards season is well and truly upon us. Follow celebrity make-up artist Samantha Cooper’s step-by-step guide to achieve ultimate red carpet glamour

Step 1:

Apply a matte base over the whole face; my personal favourite is Estee Lauder Double Wear Light which is really long lasting. Set with a sweep of powder. If your skin is looking a bit pale, tone up with a brush of light rose or coral blush over the cheeks, brow line and nose. The effect will make your face look sun-kissed.

Step 2:

Using an eyeshadow brush, apply a dab of nude or golden eye shadow to the centre of the eye lid to just above the crease. This lightens the entire eye and adds a touch of dimension.

Step 3:

Apply any colour, maybe a plum or grey from inside to outside, under the eye and use a little to line the eye. Line the inside of the eye with a kohl pencil for more drama.

Step 4:

Blend a shimmery darker shade to contour, from the outside to the inside which will create depth.

Step 5:

Line your eyes and fill in your brows with a brown cake eyeliner for a sexy smoky look. Coat eyelashes with a double coat of mascara or if you are feeling more daring, try false lashes! (I use Eyelure available in Boots).

Step 6:

Apply a coat of pink gloss over a pink or nude lipstick to give depth and plump up the lips (keep this with you, to top up with later).

Step 7:

Dust shimmer powder on your cheeks, nose and forehead, this gives the face a glamorous finish. If you have darker skin you could use bronzer instead.
