Tried and tested: Kéraskin Immersion facial

In an effort to revitalise her winter-worn skin, Lydia Fallon tries the Kéraskin Immersion facial at Urban Spa in Bishop’s Stortford.

facial HertfordshireAlthough situated in Jackson Square, Urban Spa feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of a busy shopping centre.  Everything about the place oozes tranquillity. From the softly spoken therapists to the beautiful décor, this is pampering at its peaceful, relaxing best.

I was booked in for a Kéraskin Immersion Ritual, a hydro-nutritive made-to-measure facial that promises beautifully nourished, supple and hydrated skin. My lovely therapist Suzanne explained that Kéraskin offers so much more than your average facial. Created by the world’s leading beauty therapists, the products are tested again and again until the perfect formula is found, with one cleanser being named 27, after the number of times it was remade. The Immersion facial in particular is great for tired looking skin, with the perfect combination of ingredients and massage giving skin much needed pick-me-up.

After changing in to my robes, I was taken to the charming Mediterranean suite and given a face-to-face diagnosis to uncover the state of my skin. Suzanne quizzed me on my current regime (or lack of!) and then used a impressive looking machine to test the levels of oil in my skin. Turns out my cheeks were very low and my forehead very high, which equals a normal/combination skin type.

With my skin consultation finished, I snuggled up in the warm, furry sheets (the sound of the sea playing quietly in the background) and succumbed to full relaxation mode. This is truly the ultimate treat; the Kéraskin products leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and revitalised, cleansing deep into the pores. Swapping between warm towels and cool refreshing creams, Suzanne paired the facial with a soothing neck and shoulder massage, relieving pent-up tension and straightening out my many desk-induced knots. The hour long treatment finished with a cooling face mask plus a hand and arm massage while we waited for it to set.

After I managed to drag my super relaxed limbs up off the bed, Suzanne brought me a delicious mango sorbet and gave me some useful tips and tricks to bear in mind for my future skin regime.

With a spring in my step and in my skin, I left Urban Spa feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and with an insane urge to stroke my face. I could definitely get used to this pampering malarkey.
