Boots ingredients coconut and almond body lotion, £2.03, Boots

First a confession: I wasn’t expecting much from this body lotion. Maybe it was the no-frills packaging, the recession friendly price-tag or the fact that I tend to be a bit of an own-brand snob. But I hold my hands up; this body lotion is simply lovely. The delicious coconut and almond smell left me smelling like I had rolled in a mountain of Bounty bars (in a good way) and I received many a compliment about my tropical scent. It was not too thick or too runny and easily absorbed. It left me with silky smooth skin that I couldn’t help but stroke (cue the occasional odd look!)  A definite winner!

5/5

Sympathy for the skin moisturising body lotion, £10.45, Lush Cosmetics

I’m usually a big fan of lush products but have to admit that this left me a little disappointed. It smelt mouth-watering – a gorgeous fusion of vanilla, banana and cocoa butter (I could have wolfed down the whole tub!) but the texture just didn’t do it for me. I found it far too gloopy and runny, which meant it was difficult to apply. The fragrance lingers on the skin for a good few hours but it just didn’t give my skin the moisture boost I was hoping for. All in all a bit of a let-down, but Lush, I forgive you, true love lasts forever.

The Righteous Butter super smoothing body lotion, £6.89, Soap and Glory at Boots

As I have mentioned before, I just love Soap and Glory products. The kitsch packaging, the amusing names, all that pink – I actually find it quite a struggle to walk past them in shops without having a little nose! And Soap and Glory you didn’t let me down. The righteous butter comes in a pump bottle for easy application, perfect for when you’re in a bit of a rush. The skin absorbs it pretty much instantly and it left my skin feeling super moisturised and not at all greasy. The smell is pleasant enough (floral and fruity) but it doesn’t exactly blow you away, which was my only real qualm.

4/5

Palmers cocoa butter lotion, £3.73, Superdrug

An old favourite, Palmers is like a comfort blanket for me, definitely my go-to brand of choice when I’m looking for a skin pick-me-up.  In terms of quality you can’t beat it – rich and thick, it transformed even the driest skin areas into soft buttery silk. The scent, although pretty intense, is still delicious and long-lasting (who doesn’t want to smell like chocolate?!) and let's not forget it is an absolute bargain. Perfection!
