Are you fit for Kate's bootcamp challenge?
PEOPLE prepared to take on a challenge in aid of charity are being called up for a day of no-nonsense fitness training.
Keep fit instructor Kate Stanley (29), of Challinor, Harlow, is looking for recruits to to take part in a fundraising Bootcampathon next weekend.
The event is being run by Kate and her husband Gary, who own personal training company Stanley4fitness. The aim is to raise money for Get Kids Going, the charity for which Kate is running this year’s London Marathon.
“Get Kids Going is a fantastic organisation which gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to participate in a whole assortment of sports,” she explained.
“As a fitness instructor who runs children’s bootcamps I have always been extremely passionate about getting kids active, so I was only too keen to take one of their marathon places and help raise money.
“Furthermore, my brother had spina bifida and sadly passed away when he was just 20 months old. It really means a lot to me to help others suffering similar conditions to be able to get more enjoyment out of life.”
Run by four fully-trained instructors, the Bootcampathon aims to be a fun but demanding event for people over 18. It will feature a mixture of high-endurance fitness programs.
“Everyone taking part will definitely work up a sweat,” said Kate. “It will be really fun and rewarding and give everyone involved a massive fitness boost.
“Of course it will also be raising money for a brilliant cause, with all profits raised on the day donated to Get Kids Going.”
She added: “There aren’t many slots left to fill but I am determined to have a full team so would urge anyone up for a challenge to secure their place as soon as possible.”
The Bootcampathon is taking place next Saturday (February 11) at Burnt Mill School, which has donated its hall free of charge. The day, which runs from 8am to 2pm, costs £30 and includes lunch, refreshments and a souvenir T-shirt.
