This year, over one million people are expected to take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday March 25. By simply pulling on your trainers and running one, three or six miles, you can raise some serious cash for vulnerable people all over the world.

Last year, people in the East of England raised and donated £1.9 million. Since then, more than £1.1 million has been spent on local projects in the East.

Singer Olly Murs has pledged his support to the campaign, he said: “Right, Essex! Get up, start stretching and flexing those muscles and head to sportrelief.com to enter the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile. Your support will help Comic Relief continue to fund some fantastic projects in Essex, across the rest of the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

“All the money you raise you will make a difference to the lives of those in need so please, please, please go the extra mile and be there on the start line on Sunday 25 March."
