Movember madness at PAH

Staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital got into the spirit of Movember by growing a variety of fantastic moustaches.

By encouraging men to grow facial hair throughout the month of November, Movember aims to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

The rate of cancer diagnoses in men is considerably higher than the rate in women. For every 100,000 men there will be 417 cases diagnosed, compared to 366 cases per 100,000 females.

This year more staff than ever joined in the moustache growing antics thanks to chief pharmacist and associate director for Cancer, Rob Duncombe. Rob’s enthusiasm caused a stir amongst staff, encouraging departmental competitions and special Movember events.

Every single penny raised by PAH will go to programmes run directly by Movember and men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.
