LIBERAL Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary Norman Baker made a flying visit to Stansted Airport today (Thursday, March 26) – by train.
After arriving by rail just before 2pm, he was expected to be given a tour of the terminal by managing director Stewart Wingate before heading to the Three Horsehoes in Molehill Green for a private meeting with Stop Stansted Expansion members.
From there, he was set to travel to Stansted for tea at the day centre in Crafton Green before leaving for London at around 6pm.
As well as fact-finding, the purpose of his visit was to confirm his party’s opposition to a second runway, describing it as “hugely damaging, nationally to the battle against climate change, and locally to the many communities who would be severely affected”.
