*Updated 5pm*: Fire sparks chaos on London line (Feb 8)
TRAINS between London and Cambridge face cancellations and severe delays today (Wednesday, February 8) following a line-side fire at Hackney Downs.
Network Rail says it is working with local fire services to tackle the blaze and get the timetable back on track as quickly as possible.
Trains to and from Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Stansted Airport and Uttlesford station have been delayed by up to 36 minutes so far - and it is feared that trains could be delayed by up to an hour throughout the day.
Abellio Greater Anglia passengers may use First Capital Connect trains to Cambridge, or London Overground and Underground services on any reasonable route.
UPDATE: Services are now back on schedule, according to Abellio, although several Greater Anglia trains will be formed of four coaches tonight instead of eight.
