Time travel and holidays on the moon are among people’s predictions of what life will be like in 50 years time.
A new survey, Future-Gazing, asked people what they thought the world would look like in 2062.
The top 10 predictions were:
1 - 13% of people believe we will be travelling through time in 2062
2 - 55% believe we will regularly be travelling in Space
3 - 35% of us believe we will be packing for our holiday on the moon
4 - Over 35% of us are looking forward to putting our feet up whilst the robots do our house work
5 - 20% of people believe extra brain power will be available in the form of electronic implants by 2062
6 - We will be travelling by hover board in 50 years, according to 15% of those polled
7 - Average life expectancy 100: 40% of those surveyed believe there will be many more centenarians by 2062
8 - Over half of those polled think cash will be obsolete in the next 50 years
9 - 25% of people are sure we will be communicating with family members through virtual means most of the time by 2062
10 - Children won’t know what a pen and paper are for according to the predictions of nearly 25% of those polled
The survey was carried out by the Electrical Contractors’ Association.
Head of technical services Giuliano Digilio said: “The report makes fascinating reading. Our industry has already seen some dramatic changes as technology has evolved over the years and clearly people believe there are more weird and wonderful changes to come.
“With homes and offices already being controlled by SMART technology allowing remote control of heating and lighting, I expect we’ll see more and more information-driven innovation and a more global approach to technology in the future.”
