Snowdrops that don't turn to slush

Snowdrops!
Snowdrops!

THE Gardens of Easton Lodge will next weekend be welcoming visitors to the first of only two Snowdrop Sundays this year.

The second and final chance to see the annual blooming, which has become a must-see feature of the garden lovers’ calendar, is on February 26.

Visitors can enjoy the thousands of flowers that form a stunning white carpet beneath the trees in the bosquet and down into the glade. There will be nature activities for younger visitors on the 23-acre site.

Trustee Gwen Blackshaw said: “It’s always exciting at the start of a new season and we’re all looking forward to welcoming visitors into the gardens to see both the stunning snowdrop displays and the progress we have made in the Italian Garden.”

Opening hours for both Snowdrop Sundays are noon to 4pm, with last admission at 3pm. Admission is £2.50 for adults and free to children.

A team of volunteers will be manning the gates and serving homemade soups, bacon rolls, hot drinks and cakes.

Snowdrops “in the green” will be available to buy on the day along with bone china snowdrop mugs and vases.

Anyone interested in joining the volunteer team should email enquiries@eastonlodge.co.uk or leave a message on (01371) 876979. The Gardens of Easton Lodge are in Little Easton, off the B184 Dunmow to Saffron Walden road.
