A MAN has been charged with drink-driving following a crash in Bishop’s Stortford town centre.

A black Audi A5 collided with a traffic island, fence and lamppost after it was seen being driven erratically along The Causeway on Saturday (April 20) at about 8.20pm.

Police attended the scene, near to Castle Mound, and the driver provided a positive roadside breath test of 94mg in 100ml of breath. He later gave higher readings of 99mg and 102mg. The legal limit is 35mg.

Adrian Bass, 55, of Ryes Lane, is due to appear at North East Herts Magistrates on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for information following a road rage incident in Stortford on Monday afternoon last week (April 15) when the driver of a silver BMW was verbally abusive towards a 44-year-old female motorist during a confrontation in The Causeway shortly after 3pm.

Anyone with information can call the Herts Constabulary non-emergency number, 101.
