Eyre originally joined the Woodside Park club from St Albans City during the summer of 2008 and was player of the year in the 2008/09 season.

He was made skipper after Blues captain Paul Goodacre left to join Braintree Town in October 2009.

Eyre held the job for two months before Tom Champion then took over the skipper’s armband.

Eyre left the Blues in February 2010 and subsequently joined Cambridge City before taking a short break from football.

He will provide competition for Nicky Morgan, while young keeper Bert Greenwood is on loan at Essex Senior League club Sawbridgeworth Town.

Eyre is set to be in the squad for Stortford’s home match against Farnborough tomorrow (Saturday September 4) in the Blue Square Bet South League.
