LEADERS Bromley chalked up a sixth successive victory at Woodside Park this afternoon (Bank Holiday Monday, August 30) to stay top of Blue Square South.
It was a classic smash and grab raid as hosts Bishop's Stortford were the better side for large spells.
But the Blues were undone by a dubious penalty on 76 minutes.
Stortford were caught on the break and after a poor backward header by Lynvall Duncan, Warren McBean seemed set to nip in and score.
Blues keeper Nicky Morgan was slow to react and McBean went down sprawling just inside the box.
Skipper Matt Jones fumed: "It was not a penalty."
Morgan escaped with just a yellow even though it was a goalscoring opportunity.
Harrison Dunk fired into the right side of the net and the spot-kick just had enough height to beat Morgan who had dived the right way.
Stortford lacked a clinical edge but had earlier came close to scoring with a wonderful close-range bicycle kick from Duane Jackman that was brilliantly blocked by Bromley keeper Wes Foderingham.
Dagenham boss John Still - a member of Stortford's 1974 FA Amateur Cup team - was in the crowd running the rule over his two loan players Hakeem Araba and Sanchez Ming.
