Stortford CC upset odds to clinch double with cup final triumph
Radlett 165, Bishop's Stortford 166-6BISHOP’S Stortford completed a memorable double by winning the Readers Herts County Cup final this afternoon (Sunday September 5) – just a week after winning the Home Counties Premier League division two east title.
Stortford, who also won their final league match yesterday (September 4), were firmly underdogs but still managed to defeat HCPL division one side Radlett.
Radlett not only play a division above Stortford but were also playing the final at their home ground.The hosts were bowled out for 165.
In reply, Stortford coasted to 166-6 to win by four wickets
Youngster Harry Bass struck 44, while wicket-keeper Luke Padgett hit 37 not out to steer Stortford home.
Stortford had already knocked out division one Harpenden in the last four to reach the final.
The previous day, the title-winners ended on a high.
Eddie Ballard struck 38 as they put on 199.
Opponents North Mymms were then bowled out for 151 as Stortford concluded the league campaign with a 48-run victory.
