Stortford FC slip to heavy loss

THE Blues slipped to a heavy defeat at home to promoted Farnborough Town this afternoon (Saturday September 4).

Bishop's Stortford were 4-0 down until injury-time when they scored a 90th-minute consolation.

The day got off to a bad start when skipper Matt Jones injured his back in the warm-up and had to pull out. Jay Abberley replaced him in defence with Stevland Angus getting the captain's armband.

Newly re-signed keeper Nicky Eyre replaced Nicky Morgan in goal.

Farnborough opened the scoring on nine minutes when Bradley Bubb fired in from close range,

On 43 minutes the visitors made it 2-0 when Dale Binns scored from close range.

Kezie Ibe made it 3-0 deep in first-half injury-time.

The visitors grabbed a fourth in the 49th minute when James Smith netted from close range.

Stortford got their goal after Sanchez Ming was brought down and the hosts were given a penalty. Reece Prestedge tucked this in for his second successive spot-kick in two matches.
