Stortford skipper wants to break home hoodoo

By Web Reporter
CAPTAIN Matt Jones is determined Blues end a run of two successive home defeats by beating promoted Farnborough at Woodside Park this Saturday.

Jones is also hopeful that Bishop’s Stortford residents turn out in force for the Blue Square Bet South match as part of the ‘Non-League Day’ campaign to increase gates at non-League grounds (see report on page 86).

Jones said: “If we could get more people through the gate that would be fantastic. The support has always been good while I have been here. Even today [against Bromley] they still applauded us off. They see how hard we are trying.

“Farnborough will bring a lot. They get 1,000 at home. It will create a great atmosphere.”
Stortford have enjoyed two wins from three on their travels, but must improve their home form if they are to stay in the top half of the table this season.

“We have got to pick ourselves up. We have a big game Saturday. When all the players are firing we are going to give someone a hammering,” said Jones.

“We have got a good squad. We are looking to finish in the top 10 at least.”
Strikers Danny Morgan (knee) and Leon Antoine (hamstring) are out, along with winger Mitch Hahn (ankle).

Central midfielder Ben Bowditch warmed up with the Blues players ahead of Monday’s 1-0 loss to Bromley, but will not return for at least another fortnight.

Defender Ritchie Jones misses out with a one-match ban after his red card against Ebbsfleet.
