IT’S been a long, cold winter for Stortford live night Club Blub – but it’s bursting out of hibernation on Saturday (Feb 4) for another evening of top indie-rock tunes.
After months of silence and a one-off gig with hometown heroes DeepSeaGreen last year, the monthly event at North Street music pub the Half Moon has finally announced its first gig of 2012.
Headlining this time are hotly-tipped, hyperactive London power-pop trio Cardinal Jack, whose star is set to rise in the New Year after signing to record label Infuse a few months ago.
They may not be breaking many boundaries, but their infectious enthusiasm, maddeningly moshable offerings and flawlessly tight performances – including one at last year’s Stortford Music Festival – make them the perfect band to get the blood pumping on a chilly Saturday night.
From closer to home, main support will come from similarly anthemic Ware four-piece False Alarm, while The Real Reason and Silent Smiles will be opening.
Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are £6 (£5.50 in advance from www.wegottickets.com). Look up Club Blub on Facebook or ring (01279) 834500 – and check out the headliners at www.cardinaljack.com.
