MORE than 120 musicians will be swelling the air with song when the Bishop’s Stortford Choral Society holds its first concert of 2012 on home turf.
On Saturday (February 25), 80 of the group’s choristers will be joining the 40-strong Stortford Sinfonia for a recital of Haydn’s Creation at All Saints Church in Stansted Road.
Under the baton of accomplished conductor David Boarder, the society will enjoy solo accompaniment from Elinor Jane Moran (soprano), Andrew Phillips (tenor) and Andrew Fraser (bass).
Based on the Christian story of creation, and drawing inspiration from both the book of Genesis and Milton’s Paradise Lost, Haydn’s three-part masterpiece was first performed in public in 1798 – during the composer’s final and most prolific period before his death.
The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £14 (£12 concs; under-16s free). Ring 07972 807750 or visit Stortford’s Tourist Information Centre in Market Square – and see www.bscs.org.uk for future concert dates.
