The 14-year-old, who attends Newport Free Grammar School, chose to dedicate new release Heroes to Britain's servicemen and women as many of her classmates' loved ones are stationed at nearby Carver Barracks.

The charity’s chief executive and co-founder Bryn Parry, said: “Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and Shakila’s song is a wonderful example of someone having a good idea, rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause.”

Shakila, who appeared at last year's Stortford Music Festival, has released three tracks independently in the past year and covered dozens more of her favourite songs on her YouTube channel.

Heroes is now available through iTunes and Amazon - and to hear more of Shakila's songs, click here.
