Enjoy a picnic and comedy at Windhill

TheatreWATER Lane Theatre Company presents William Wycherley’s bawdy restoration comedy The Country Wife in Bishop’s Stortford next month.

The picnic production will take place at the delightful Monastery Gardens in Windhill from Friday, August 17 to Sunday, August 19.

Written in 1675, The Country Wife tells the story of Horner, a notorious and lascivious man-about-town with an ingenious scheme for the rampant and mass seduction of the women of London society.

Guests will need to bring their own chairs, and picnics and refreshments are also encouraged.

Performances are at 7.30pm (entry from 7pm) on August 17 and 18 and at 2pm (entry from 1.30pm) on August 19.

In the event of a torrential downpour a performance may be moved to St Michael’s Church.

Tickets, at £9.50 (£7.50 concessions and £5 children), are available from Waterstone’s in Bishop’s Stortford.
